Frequently Asked Questions
Is GridRoom only for sports/football?
Absolutely not. Use GridRoom any time you need to distribute high-quality video to small groups of people
and collaborate with them. This could include distributing game films for other sports, sharing videos
of school performances with parents, etc.
How much does GridRoom cost?
You can use the free version of GridRoom as long as you like. All features work the same in the free
and paid versions, but the free version limits how much data you can store and download each month.
The paid version has no storage or download limits, and you're billed monthly based on actual usage
(no monthly or yearly maintenance fees). See our Pricing
page for current rates.
How long will my videos remain available for viewing/downloading?
Your videos will remain available on GridRoom until you delete them. There are no time limits or storage
limits when using the paid version. When using the free version your oldest videos will be deleted automatically
after 1-2 days if you exceed the free version's storage limits. Don't worry, you'll be warned
in advance to upgrade or delete unwanted videos.
Can anyone watch the videos I share on GridRoom?
No. When sharing videos you enter the email addresses of everyone who can access each video. Only the
users you've specifically authorized can view or download your videos.
Does GridRoom work on Macintosh computers?
Virtually all common operating systems are supported for viewing and downloading videos from GridRoom.
However, the
GridRoom Uploader
works only on Windows.
Can I use GridRoom with a hard-drive based camera that creates separate files for each video clip?
Yes, if the file format is supported by the GridRoom Uploader. Multiple files uploaded together
will be grouped into a single GridRoom "video" that is split into a separate clips. The clips available
on GridRoom may not correspond exactly to the original video files, depending on the composition of
those files (video length and scene changes).
The uploader always supports .AVI and .WMV (Window Media) files, and may also support other file types
such as .MOV, .MPG, .VOB, etc. However, support for these additional file types depends on the configuration
of your computer and whether you have the appropriate Windows video "filters" installed.
If you find that your camera's file format is not supported you can always use a tool such as Windows
Movie Maker to convert your files into uncompressed AVI files for uploading with GridRoom. Microsoft
provides free versions of Movie Maker for both
Windows XP and Vista.
Does GridRoom put any usage restrictions on the videos I've uploaded?
Of course not! They're your videos and you can do whatever you want with them, pursuant to the original
copyright holder's restrictions. In other words, we can't grant rights you don't already
have--such as sharing Hoosiers with 40 of your closest friends--but we don't claim to take
away any of your existing rights either.
You are free to copy shared videos to recordable DVDs or other media for offline sharing or upload them
to other online services. Seriously, we consider this question almost too silly to answer--except that
at least one other sports video sharing site has claimed to "own" your uploaded videos and
restrict what you can do with them!
